Words UYB uses.
Use this mini glossary when a screen uses a word that sounds bigger than it needs to. These words describe app states, not judgments about anyone.
It holds the invite, questions, saved sides, waiting state, and reveals for that one connection.

What happens after you create a journal?
- The journal is created. You get a private invite link. That link is how the other person joins.
- You can write first. You do not have to wait for them to join before starting your side.
- The reveal stays locked. No one reads the other side until both people save an answer.
- History stays in UYB.Past questions live in the journal and journey history after they start.
Common questions.
Do both people have to answer before a reveal opens?
Yes. In a paired journal, both people answer the same question privately before the reveal opens.
Can I write before the other person joins?
Yes. You can start your side first, save it, and share the invite link when you are ready.
Can I use UYB if I am not ready to share with anyone?
Yes. Use Private Write to get thoughts out first. Solo notes stay outside shared journal reveals.
Where do I see the other person's journal?
UYB does not show a separate copy of their journal. You see shared reveals only after both people save answers to the same question.
Can the other person see my draft?
No. Drafts and private reflections are for your side only. Reveals open only after both saved answers exist.
What happens if I lose connection or close the page?
UYB saves device drafts while you write and can save account-backed drafts for signed-in writing rooms.
Is UYB therapy or emergency support?
No. UYB is a private guided journaling product. It is not therapy, diagnosis, crisis monitoring, or emergency support.
